Chocolate Persimmon Tree

Alternative Views:

The Chocolate persimmon tree, Diospyros kaki 'Chocolate'  is a yellow-orange persimmon when completely ripe that is astringent and should be allowed to 'color up' and develop a soft skin to the touch before eating.  When fully ripe the flesh is brownish in color, and the pulp has a smooth raisiny flavor that is very harmonious and sweet.  The Chocolate persimmon tree is cold hardy enough to grow in USDA climate zones of 9 and 10 successfully.
