Flowering Fringe Tree

Alternative Views:

The flowering Fringe tree blooms are unusual networks of white interconnected filaments that hang in dense clusters with a pleasant distinct aroma during the late spring.  A native species of this plant or shrub is commonly called the, “Grancy Greybeard” a name that really defines the unique form and appearance of the flower clusters that appear in very late spring.  The Grancy Graybeard is a very slow growing tree but can begin flowering when only one foot tall.  This flowering plant grows especially well in low moist woodlands, where surface water keeps the roots moist in earthen wet spots that occur in acid soils where most of other flowering plants do not grow well.
