Swamp chestnut tree Oak Tree

Alternative Views:

Swamp Chestnut Oak Tree  Quercus palustris   The Swamp Chestnut Oak Trees have often been confused by some botanists with the Chestnut Oak Trees, however, rather than keep them in the group, Quercus montana, most agree that the Swamp Chestnut Oak tree is sufficiently different in the large eleven inch leaves with dominant lobbing from the Chestnut Oak tree, and on that basis, most botanists and foresters think that its requirement for wetland or swamp environments, should be given its own species separation.  The Swamp Chestnut Oak tree grows as a native American shade tree from New Jersey southwards to Florida, and then westwards to Texas and at maturity, Swamp Chestnut Oaks can grow to more than 60 feet high.
