Alphonse Karr Bamboo Plant
Alphonse Karr bamboo plant

Alternative Views:

The Alphonse Karr Bamboo Plant, Bambusa multiplex 'Alphonse Karr,' is a clumping type of bamboo plant that does not spread aggressively and is easy for gardeners to control the growth outwards.  The numerous branches that grow out of the nodes of the canes are thick and broom-like and form a perfect place for bird nest building that are commonly found to be constructed in the upper branches of the Alphonse Karr bamboo plants.  This bamboo grows up to 15 feet tall into a useful privacy fence blocker with a beautiful, yellow and green variegation pattern of vertical stripes extending up and down each bamboo cane.  One of the most agreeable characteristics of the Alphonse Karr Bamboo plants is the fragrance that is produced when the leaves are in motion, a pleasant aroma of freshly mowed grass.
