American Chestnut Tree
American chestnut tree

Alternative Views:

American chestnut trees, Castanea dentata, are resistant to the original blight and were grown from mature trees  with a proven resistance from an undisclosed location that has produced seed for many years and is 100% healthy.  The American native chestnut trees are extremely productive, and a three year old tree will begin producing chestnuts in 2 years.  The American chestnuts when ripe are the size of a quarter and are considered to be sweeter than any of the other types of chestnuts with a distinct aromatic fragrance when the nuts are roasted.  The trees should be crossed with another seedling chestnut pollinator.
