Anna Apple Tree
Anna apple tree

Alternative Views:

Anna apple tree, Malus domestica “Anna” is an apple introduction that originated in Israel where the climate is much like that of the Deep South in the USA, where apple trees have difficulty in growing some years during mild winters.  Anna apple trees require very few chill hours, below 300 hours, in order to grow and ripen apples on the tree.  The Anna apple tree is believed to result from a cross of the Golden delicious apple, and the fruit is yellowish-green with a red overlay of color.  The Anna apple tree begins flowering some years as early as January, depending on how cold the temperatures are in the late fall and early winter, and the fruit ripens in June and the flavor is sweet for fresh eating.  The best pollinators for the Anna apple trees are the Golden Dorsett apple tree or the crabapple tree.
