Bald Cypress Tree

Alternative Views:

The Bald Cypress tree, Cupressus distichum, is a very large tree that is native to the United States and can be grown from Canada to Florida in the South, and some ancient specimens  are dated to be over l600 years old growing to enormous heights and widths.  The Bald Cypress trees grow fragrant, ferny leaves that change into a brilliant yellow and bronze spectacle during the fall, resulting from their namesake, 'Bald Cypress Tree'.  The seeds that form in the summer are carried in a cone that is shredded by hungry squirrels and eaten ravenously.  Although the Bald Cypress tree normally is found growing in wet areas in the native state, the tree flourishes as an excellent shade tree in dry locations and immensely valued, because the shedding leaves are tiny linear filaments that disappear in the grass, avoiding the compulsion for raking.  The Bald Cypress tree wood is dense and exhibits an immunity to fungal disintegration, making it important to use as lumber for building homes in wet landscapes.

4 of 5 Online checkout bad but via phone ok February 17, 2018

I tried for 2 days to check out on their website, but kept getting stuck.  Once I called them in Georgia, the customer service was good and the saplings were delivered as promised and well packed.  Too early to tell how they will take, but after the frustration online, it was worth the old fashioned phone order.
