Black Gum Tree

Alternative Views:

In the South the Black Gum trees, Nyssa sylvatica, are known as, 'Tupelo trees' or 'Black Tupelo Trees' and grow into enormous towering tree specimens in wet or damp areas, where they are fast growing and abundantly produce a fruit that is highly prized by birds.  The Black Gum shade trees are cold hardy from Canada to Florida.  The small flowers of the Black Tupelo tree are a favorite tree of bees that collect the pollen that is transformed into the famous and distinctive flavored,  'Tupelo Honey'.  During the fall season the dark green leaves turn into a spectacular purple, then into a scarlet-red color.

3 of 5 black gum tree June 9, 2015
Reviewer: 10252 from Sioux Falls, SD United States
Arrived 1 week after ordering.  Tree was well packed, and hydrating gel media still damp.  Unfortunately, not much was remaining of the root system.  Branches were still pliable.  Immersed roots in root stimulating mixture while I dug the hole. Took pictures, but doesn't appear to be a way to attach.  A week later and tree appears to still be dormant.  Not real optimistic at this point.
