The Chapman Oak tree, Quercus chapmanii, is also known as the “Scrub Oak' shade tree and is a native tree to Southern States or the Coastal beaches of Alabama and Florida that are located on the Gulf of Mexico.  The Chapman Oak trees are also is found growing on the Atlantic Coasts of Georgia and South Carolina where it is most often found growing in scrubby sandy areas, especially along coastal sand dunes.  The Chapman Oak trees are small Oaks growing up to 30 feet tall, rarely, and the evergreen, wavy  leaves grow about 3 inches long, and underneath the leaves is a pale yellow color.  In the fall the older, shiny leaves turn bright yellow and then brilliant red.
