Drake elm tree

Alternative Views:

The Drake Elm tree, Ulmus parvifolia 'Drake', is an excellent street tree for planting in urban landscapes, especially in parking lots for their ornamental value as a shade tree.  The Drake Elm trees grow from 40 to 50 feet tall as specimen trees and the canopy is round a spreading.  The bark is exfoliating and in the fall peels off to reveal a smooth beautiful rusty color that forms a beautiful winter contrast, and the tree is cold hardy to grow in zones 7 through 10.  The Drake Elm tree grows well in either basic or acidic pH soils, and the tree can tolerate growing in the full sunshine or partial shade.
