Georgia Red Mayhaw Tree

Alternative Views:

The Georgia Red mayhaw tree  Crataegus aestivalis 'Georgia Red' is an excellent mayhaw selection that originated from the Georgia Experiment Station in Tifton, Georgia, that begins producing white, sweetly fragrant flowers in February, and the one inch sized, bright-red mayhaws are all ripe and have completely vanished by the last week of May.  When ultimately ripe the Georgia Red mayhaws intermittently fall to the earth, but most growers shake the trees at weekly intervals and collect the fruit on canvases or blanket beneath the trees.
