Hachiya Persimmon Tree

Alternative Views:

The Hachiya persimmon tree, Diospyros kaki ' Hachiya' is a large heart-shaped persimmon that is astringent and should be completely ripe and softened before eating.  The Hachiya persimmon leafs out very late in the spring, and the juicy persimmons ripen late in October or November, and then will hang on the trees until picked.  The sweet and spicy pulp is refined and yummy with an agreeable aftertaste.  Hachiya persimmon trees will survive the cold winter temperatures of zones 8 and 9.
