Lady Palm Tree

Alternative Views:

The Lady Palm tree, Rhapis excelsa, is most often grown as a container plant and can easily be grown in heavy shade as an ornamental plant out of doors in Zones 8, 9 and 10, as long as the winter temperatures do not drop below 15 degrees F.  The mature Lady Palm trees are slow growing but may grow up to 9 feet tall, and the multi-trunks of the Lady Palms appear very much like bamboo canes.  The most valuable growing characteristics of the Lady Palm tree are:  its tolerance of low light and salt water spray, so that it is very adaptable for using inside the home and office as a clean, tropical, indoor container plant.
