Washingtonia Palm Tree
Washingtonia Palm Tree

Alternative Views:

The Washingtonia Mexican Fan Palm tree, Washingtonia robusta, is a very fast growing palm tree that has exquisite, wide-spreading leaves that are armed with thorns and spikes, but fortunately the leaves grow out of reach after a short time.  The Washingtonia palm trees grow up to 80 feet tall and cover the streets and boulevards of Hollywood and Los Angeles, California.  The Mexican Fan palm is somewhat cold hardy in Zone 8 in Southern Georgia, but the leaves tend to freeze every year at temperatures lower than 32 degrees F., but will regrow rapidly in May and are again lush and beautiful by July every year.
