Windmill Palm Tree

Alternative Views:

The Windmill palm tree, Trachycarpus fortunei has been grown in Europe for centuries, where it was imported from China, its native habitat.  The evergreen, Windmill palm tree, is perhaps, the most popular palm tree in the world, due to its extreme cold hardiness to survive ice and  snow-chilled winters of minus 20 F. degrees in Bulgaria and Switzerland.  This graceful fan palm tree is non clumping with a slender, exquisite trunk that rises to 40 feet and topped by tropical, refined leaves that flutter in the slightest breeze.  The hairy fibered trunk insulates and protects the growing interior body from the cold, but at an advanced age, this crust is shed off that exposes the slick gray tapering trunk. The Windmill palm trees are important landscaping plants in Northern States like, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania where they are commonly planted next to pools as a stunning tropical tree inclusion.

My husband loves the palm. One frond was yellow, but I think savagable. My husband now says that we need another. He will probably be getting one for Father's Day! Thank you for your excellent customer service!
